Mumbai Police helds a man for forging name on 6 Crore cheque

April 16, 2013 By LegalSolutions.in Leave a Comment

The Manikpur police in Vasai arrested a man on forgery charges after a private bank lodged a complaint against him. The accused, Troy Pereira, has been sent to police custody till April 16. Hunt is on for three of his aides.

The police said Pereira deposited a Rs 6.8 crore cheque in his savings bank account in Vasai in 2012. The staff was surprised to see such a large amount and decided to verify the cheque. It had been drawn by the Delhi State Industrial Corporation through their account with a leading private bank. On making inquiries, it was learnt that no such cheque was issued to Pereira by the Delhi State Industrial Corporation and that he had forged his name on it. The private bank then lodged a complaint with the Manikpur police last week. Pereira was arrested around 2am on Saturday.
